Jamie Barber to roll out Villandry Kitchen concept
Villandry owner Jamie Barber and Ed Standring, owner of Relish Restaurants launch their first joint venture - an all day cafe and bistro called Villandry Kitchen

Restaurateur Jamie Barber has opened a sister restaurant to Villandry called Villandry Kitchen in a joint venture with Relish Restaurants owner Ed Standring.

The first Villandry Kitchen opened in High Holborn last Friday and will work as an all day and early evening cafe bistro serving dishes such as Croque Monsieur, Moules Frites and pizzas.

Sophie Douglas, of Fusion, who redesigned Villandry in Great Portland Street in 2005, has also designed the interior at Villandry Kitchen with many elements recognisable from the original.

The latest site includes a charcuterie counter and a private dining room called The Kitchen Table. Bread and pastries for the restaurant come from the bakery at its sister restaurant Villandry in Great Portland Street.

Speaking at the Allegra Strategies Restaurant Summit on Tuesday, Barber said they hoped to open another six Villandry Kitchen sites over the next 18 months.

The restaurateur, who also opened the first branch of Kitchen Italia at Westfield earlier this year said there were plans to open a second in Covent Garden later this year.
