Harvey Nichols` Fifth Floor Restaurant has created a Vanille Gourmande afternoon tea inspired by Laura Mercier`s perfume of the same name. Launching today, the tea has been made from a bespoke blend of tea leaves created by the store`s master tea blenders to complement the notes of Vanille Gourmand and executive chef Jonas Karlsson has also devised a menu to do the same. For £19.95 diners get a range of smoked salmon and horseradish, cheese and pickle and egg mayonnaise finger sandwiches plus scones with homemade kumquat and vanilla marmalade, a vanilla and lemon infused cupcake and other similarly perfume-inspired cakes. Diners can also order a bottle of Vanille Gourmande eau de toilette for an extra £40.
Meetings by the hour
Macdonald Hotels and Resort’s Tickled Trout Hotel near Preston is hiring out meeting rooms by the hour for business guests and visitors who want more privacy than the bar or lobby can give them. Rooms are hired out for £25 an hour for a maximum of eight people. General manager Marc McCrae said: “Having noticed the rise of this type of business visitor to our hotel we devised the new package to accommodate this trend.” The scheme could be rolled out to other Macdonald Hotels if successful.

Free lunch
Vegetarian restaurant Tibits has pledged to give a free lunch to all dads who are accompanied by a paying member of the family on Father’s Day. Those wishing to take advantage have to email vasb@gvovgf.pb.hx before the day and request a Dads Eat Free voucher exchangeable for a plate of food at the Tibits restaurants in Heddon Street and Westfield, London.
Gift giveaway
Whitbread`s fixed price restaurant brand Taybarns is running a special Father`s Day promotion where it is giving away five gift vouchers for dads that can be redeemed against experiences such as monster truck rides and helicopter rides. Children or dads can enter on the website www.taybarnswhosthedaddy.com, through Taybarn`s Facebook group or by filling in a flyer at one of the restaurants. The restaurants will also be preparing some specials for Father`s Day including Pappa`s Pasta and the Mighty Meatball Feast.
Pamper papa
St James`s Hotel & Club has thrown in an hour and a half`s grooming session at nearby barber shop Truefitt & Hill for dads if they book a stay at the London town house hotel in June, July or August this year. The package is £290 per room and includes an overnight stay for two with breakfast and a voucher for Truefitt & Hill that can be redeemed for a hot towel wet shave, haircut and shampoo and manicure.
