Legacy Hotels takes on two former Niche Hotels
Legacy Hotels and Resorts has entered into a three-year management contract with two former Niche Hotels that went into administration last December

Legacy Hotels and Resorts has announced the addition of two new properties to its portfolio – The Legacy Royal Hotel Cardiff, and The Wyck Hill House Hotel and Spa in Gloucestershire, which is currently closed for refurbishment.

The hotel group, which now operates and manages 11 hotels across the UK and Jersey and eight associate hotels in the UK and Spain, stepped into a three-year management contract with both hotels after previous operators Niche Hotels went into administration last December.

Legacy managed to save 30 jobs when it stepped in to take over the 64-bedroom Royal Hotel located near to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, and the 60-bedroom Wyck Hill House Hotel in the Cotswolds.

Andy Townsend, chief executive officer of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, said the group hoped to ‘transform the fortunes’ of both hotels over the next few months.

“I am confident that with our expertise we can re-establish the Royal Hotel as one of the key destination hotels within the city,” he said. “We aim to push for the four-star plus market for the Wyck Hill House Hotel and Spa when we re-launch the business towards the end of the summer. It has the potential to be the crown jewel of our portfolio because of its setting at the gateway to the Cotswolds in Stow-in-the-Wold and it is a beautiful building.

“It has also enjoyed a very good reputation which The Wyck Hill House Hotel built over many years and I am delighted to be taking its name back to that in which it is better known.”

Legacy Hotels also announced they are working towards making further additions to its portfolio in the near future.
