The Seahold Group's new catering division opens a dedicated takeaway outlet next to its Aberdeenshire Italian restaurant Max's to increase its market share in the recession

Aberdeenshire Italian restaurant Max’s is hoping to gain a slice of the takeaway market by opening a separate unit for takeaway orders.

The new outlet, called Max’s Food to Go, will open next to the 60-cover restaurant in Westhill in a unit previously occupied by the delicatessen Francesca’s.

Max’s and Francesca’s were bought by the Seahold Group in June and since then the company has been looking at ways to grow the business.

Seahold Catering business director Jennifer Stewart said: “The fast food, takeaway and home-delivery market has seen growth of 4.2 per cent recently and it is possible that in the current climate this will increase.

“In a recession people are looking to save money but still enjoy luxuries like eating out and Max’s Food to Go can provide this with our varied Italian dishes.

The new venture will sell takeaway pizza, pasta, meat and fish dishes when it opens on August 14 and will create four new jobs within the group.

Francesca’s Delicatessen will continue to trade in a larger, previously unoccupied adjoining unit to the restaurant and takeaway.

Stewart added: “This market offers huge potential for us and is an exciting addition to the business, and the area.  Westhill and the surrounding area are growing and the town has become home to more businesses with the developments at Arnhall Business Park.”
