BigHospitality rounds up the promotions, offers and marketing ideas being run by restaurants, hotels and pubs across the country

The hospitality industry may be about providing food, drink, accommodation and service, but sometimes you have to go the extra mile to pull customers in. If you’re stuck for ideas on how to make your business more appealing take a look at what others are doing for inspiration.

Beach party

Mayfair bar and nightclub Mahiki will be transforming itself into a beach throughout August to celebrate the summer. The seating area will be replaced by a replica beach complete with sand, palm trees and a peep board for photos. Resident mixologist Papa Jules has devised a beach-inspired cocktail menu and beach parties will be held every Sunday during the month in conjunction with Select Models. The launch event this Sunday will see 20 models dressed in Calvin Klein beachwear with the designer brand also providing goody bags for the event. The club is also offering a price your own meal promotion throughout August, asking customers to decide what to pay for the meal after they've eaten it.

Palace pleasures

Mayfair’s 5-star town house hotel St James Club and Hotel has teamed up with Buckingham Palace to offer guests a pair of tickets for a tour of the royal residency, where 19 of the state rooms will be open for viewing. The package, which includes two tickets to the palace and bed and breakfast at the hotel is £232 per room, per night.

Punch at The Punch

The Punch Tavern in London is using its name for inspiration to show a traditional Punch and Judy puppet show this summer. Punch and Judy performer Robert Styles will host a show for adults and children at 1.30pm on August 26 at the Fleet Street pub, renamed when journalists from Punch magazine became regulars in the 1840s. Tickets are £5 per person or £15 for two children and two adults with all proceeds going to the performer.  The pub will also offer a £4 children’s menu on the day with dishes including fish and chips, sausage and mash and roast of the day.

Quacking deal for under fives

Q Hotels is targeting the family market by offering free accommodation and dining for under fives when accompanied by two adults. Their “Quackers About Q” promotion also offers children’s branded products including separate children’s menus, colouring books and gift packs to keep them entertained. The hotel has also partnered with Treasure Houses of England, offering guests discounted entry to houses and palaces around the country.
