Chefs urged to enter North West Young Chef Competition 2010
The search is on again to find the next up-and-coming chef that will wear the crown of North West Young Chef of the Year.
Chefs aged 25 or under based in North West England, or head chefs who want to highlight the skills of their protegees, can enter the competition for the chance to win the title, a week's work in a European restaurant, a weekend for two at a luxury hotel and a set of Global knives.
Entrants must impress the judging panel, including competition chairman Brian Mellor, by cooking a three-course meal for two using local produce costing no more than £25.
British Masterchef Brian Mellor, competition chairman and judge, said: “It doesn’t matter whether you are a college trainee, pub or hotel chef, restaurant apprentice or canteen cook. You just need to work in the region and believe you have something special, some real promise.”
Entry deadlines depend on region with the first regional heat – Manchester – open now for entries.
The competition final will take place in June next year with a live cook-off in front of local producers, chefs and the media.
