Spanish wine brand Campo Viejo creates a new twist on food and drink matching by asking diners to choose a wine and then trust a chef to create a dish to go with it

Spanish wine brand Campo Viejo has come up with a new twist on food and drink matching which sees chefs creating dishes to match a diner's wine choice.

The Viva el Vino campaign is being launched at Pinchito Tapas in London on October 14 and invites diners to choose a Campo Viejo wine from a list and then trust a chef to make them a meal that is 'designed to perfectly enhance the flavours and notes of the wine'.

Matthew Bird, marketing controller for Campo Viejo said: "Pairing the right kind of food with the right variety of wine can completely transform people’s dining experiences and the aim of our ‘Viva el Vino’ campaign is to get people to sample the best of Campo Viejo’s popular wines with the finest Spanish cooking.“

Dishes remain a secret for diners until they arrive at the table, and Jason Fendick, founder of Pinchito Tapas said he expected it to create a real buzz among diners: “Our philosophy is a genuine respect for quality ingredients, a passion for the culinary arts and the desire to impress our guests. We love the Spanish sociable dining scene and Campo Viejo’s ‘Viva el Vino’ campaign looks set to inspire our customers - we think it’ll be a real conversation starter in the restaurant this autumn," he said.

The campaign will launch at Pinchito Tapas in central London before being rolled out to other Spanish restaurants from February 2010.
