Heston Blumenthal will not face any charges over alleged breaches of food safety legislation at The Fat Duck, which was forced to close earlier this year due to a health scare.

A health report has concluded that oysters tainted with sewage led to guests contracting the norovirus after eating at the restaurant. Environmental health officials for Windsor & Maidenhead Council said that although the restaurant could have taken greater steps to combat the norovirus outbreak, there was insufficient evidence to take formal action.

Blumenthal apologised to diners but a spokeswoman said the company would not be accepting responsibility for the incident.
