The Considerate Hoteliers Association adds an extra marketing award category and re-introduces an old one to this year's awards

The Considerate Hoteliers Association has added a new green marketing category to this year's awards to reward the ‘highly original and innovative initiatives’ being run by hotels.

Open to all hotels and guest houses in the UK, the Considerate Hotel of the Year Awards celebrate best practice in environmental and corporate social responsibility.

For the 2009/10 awards hotels who have effectively promoted their green efforts to guests and the wider business community are in with the chance of winning the Considerate Green Marketing Initiative of the Year award.

CHA secretary John Firrell said: “Over the last few years, CHA award entrants have increasingly demonstrated that they have been implementing highly original and innovative initiatives that promote their environmental credentials to their guests, suppliers and local community.

"This has provided them with an invaluable competitive edge over not so environmentally committed rivals. We believed, therefore, that it was high time that such effective marketing initiatives were properly recognised.”

Also making a return this year is the Sustainable Food Award of the Year category which rewards a business that has gone the ‘extra mile’ to support local food producers.

Other award categories are The Considerate Green Team of the Year; The Considerate Green Champion of the Year and The Considerate Hotel of the Year.

The deadline for entering the awards is 19 March 2010. For more details about them and how to enter visit.
