Legacy Hotels has handed control of The Royal Hotel in Cardiff over to Bespoke Hotels, after the group’s management contract on the property expired.
The UK arm of Legacy Hotels and Resorts took control of the 64-bedroom Royal Hotel in June this year, after its previous operator Niche Hotels went into administration in December 2008.
Following a recent ‘strategic review’ of their portfolio, Legacy has now handed control of The Royal Hotel over to Bespoke Hotels, whose portfolio now includes 35 properties across the UK.
Andy Townsend, chief executive officer of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, said the group had been able to help recover the business since its acquisition last year.
“Our team has worked hard to put the hotel on the road to recovery,” he said. “However, following a strategic review of our ever increasing portfolio across the UK and Jersey I decided that the next stage in the hotel’s journey would be best served with the support of others and I am delighted that the decision was made to engage Robin Sheppard and his team at Bespoke Hotels.”
Earlier this year Bespoke Hotels also took control of Legacy’s 60-bedroom Wyck Hill House in Gloucestershire, which is due to reopen in February 2010.
