The Vineyard Group, operator of The Vineyard at Stockcross and Donnington Valley Hotel, are to manage the seven former Folio hotels owned by sister company Sonoma Ltd.

The announcement comes as Akkeron Hotels last week acquired eight properties belonging to the Folio Hotel group, which has been trading as Mulbourn Ltd since going into administration in December last year.

Owned by The Vineyard Group’s chairman Sir Peter Michael, Sonoma retrieved the seven hotels previously operated by Folio and has now instructed The Vineyard to manage them in a similar manner to the two existing hotels in their portfolio.

Peter Grubb, chief executive of Sonoma, said: “Taking our management in-house under the supervision of managing director Andrew McKenzie and sales and marketing director Catherine Whittle, gives us a great deal of confidence that we will see these lovely hotels fulfil their potential.”

The seven hotels now operated by The Vineyard Group are:

  • The Barns Hotel, Bedford
  • Etrop Grange Hotel, Manchester
  • Hall Garth Hotel, Golf and Country Club, Darlington
  • Harpenden House, Harpenden
  • Brownsover Hall Hotel, Rugby
  • The Maids Head Hotel, Norwich
  • The Charlecote Pheasant Hotel, Stratford-Upon-Avon

Akkeron will continue to trade its eight hotels under the Folio banner, whilst seeking additional properties with which to build a portfolio of 150 regional hotels across the UK.
