Heritage Properties & Hotels, operator of The Crab at Chieveley in Berkshire, has acquired the Park Central Hotel in Bournemouth for an undisclosed sum in the region of £4m.

Heritage’s founders, the Hughes family, who also operate Newbury Manor in Berkshire, Churston Court in Brixham, Devon and the four-star Park House Hotel in Shifnal, Shropshire, will launch their new 60-bedroom hotel and seafood restaurant as The Crab at Bournemouth this spring.

Simon Stevens, director at Christie & Co who handled the deal on behalf of a private owner, said: “This is an exceptional opportunity to create a destination hotel and restaurant, which should be a huge success.”
