Britain’s passion for the discount voucher is showing no signs of waning, as the number being redeemed soars by 25 per cent on last year.

According to new research from moneysupermarket.com, British consumers are currently redeeming over 2.4 million discount vouchers every day, saving themselves up to £55 a month by redeeming vouchers on leisure activities such as eating out.

But while the trend became popular as a means of saving money during the recession, the use of restaurant vouchers shows no signs of slowing now the UK economy is back on track.

Sian Harrison, voucher expert for moneysupermarket.com, said: “Since our launch a year ago, discount-hungry consumers have downloaded over 1 million offers from the site and our love affair with vouchers shows no sign of abating.”
