Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has launched a new management division and signed up its first two members.
Macdonald Hotels Management Services has been set up to gain sales, marketing and management contracts for existing hotels to complement the company’s own directly owned and managed properties.
Pendley Manor and the Rose & Crown Hotel in Hertfordshire’s Tring are the new division's inaugural members and under the terms of the partnership agreement, Macdonald will undertake sales and marketing initiatives on their behalf.
Chris Gillett, managing director of hotel management services, said: “This is a natural step for us, the Macdonald Hotels brand has a demonstrated track record in fostering successful hoteliers, by establishing long-term relationships with carefully selected partners.”
The division is in addition to its existing associate hotels scheme, which consists of management contracts at Gisborough Hall, the Roxburghe and Savill Court hotels, and will continue to run as a separate entity.
Macdonald is to invest £5m redeveloping the Cardrona hotel in Peebles in a move that will see the addition of 50 bedrooms as well as a new conference suite.
The hotel will also extend its leisure and spa facilities to feature tennis courts, an equestrian centre, children’s play area and holiday homes as it is repositioned as a holiday resort.
