Little Chef boss Ian Pegler, the man who brought in Michelin-starred chef Heston Blumenthal to reinvent the business, has left the company

In a statement the roadside restaurant group said: “Following delivery of the initial two-year plan for the re-generation of Little Chef, Ian Pegler has left the business.

“As chief executive Ian has moved Little Chef from a loss to a profit making position and the business is now on a more secure footing.”

Pegler famously clashed with Blumenthal over the chef’s plans to reinvent the chain’s Popham outlet in a Channel 4 documentary.

The transformation proved successful and was subsequently rolled out to other Little Chef outlets in Kettering, Oxford and York.

The company said the business would be managed by its existing executive team in the interim while the next phase of its brand development strategy was put into place.

Little Chef is owned by private equity firm R Capital.
