Tony Hughes joins the National Skills Academy for Hospitality
The former managing director of Mitchells & Butlers' restaurant division joins the board of the National Skills Academy for Hospitality, while MacDonald Hotels appoints a new general manager

Tony Hughes, the former managing director of Mitchells & Butlers' (M&B) restaurant division, has joined the board of the National Skills Academy for Hospitality.

Hughes said he hoped to add value to the board and help it deliver on its vision to identify and nuture excellence in the hospitality industry.

He said: "The sign-posting to the industry's best courses and colleges offered by the academy provides huge competitive advantage for both individuals and companies."

David McHattie, chief executive of the Hospitality Skills Academy, said Hughes' contribution would be of "enormous benefit".

Hughes stepped down from M&B just over two years ago. He currently serves as a non-executive director of the Restaurant Group, the quoted casual dining group.

New general manager at the Roxburghe

​Macdonald Hotels has appointed Marcello Ventisei as general manager of Edinburgh's Roxburghe hotel.

He has moved to the four star hotel from Dundee's Landmark hotel and has also worked for De Vere and InterContinental Hotels Group.
