The number of hotel and leisure businesses being declared insolvent fell in April, according to new data

Experian’s latest Insolvency Index showed that there were 129 hotel and leisure business failures in the month compared with 143 in March and 166 in the same period a year ago.

Nationally the total number of business insolvencies across all sectors was down by 15.1 per cent during April compared with the same period in 2009.

Earlier this month figures from accountancy firm Wilkins Kennedy revealed that despite a fall in overall hospitality insolvencies last year, the rate of hotel failures increased​.
