Michael Paul has joined the Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room as executive head chef

Paul moves from the Royal Institute of British Architects in Portland Place and replaces Maria Elia, who launched the dining room in April 2009.

Whitechapel Gallery Dining Room is operated by high-end City caterer Vacherin. 

Mark Philpott, director of Vacherin, said: “Michael is a hugely talented young chef and I am thrilled that he is joining us at Whitechapel Gallery." 

Paul will focus on a menu of modern British food that will reflect the seasons. Examples include Char-Grilled Rump of Romney Marsh Lamb, Wild Garlic Potato Terrine, Roast Red Pepper and Saffron Dressing; and Pan-Fried Sea Trout, Buttered Jersey Royals, Samphire, Tomato Vierge.

Senior appointments at Tossed

Andrew Shanahan has joined the healthy eating chain as operations director having previously been managing director of LoveJuice. Shanahan’s previous experience includes operations and development director roles at Prêt-a-Manger.

Neil Sebba has also joined Tossed in the role of financial director. The appointment comes after private equity firm Beringea’s £1.5m investment in the chian. Sebba was previously with Cornerstone Corporate Finance, where he advised leisure and consumer-facing businesses on raising private equity funds

Founded in 2005 by Vincent Mckevitt, Tossed currently has six stores in London.
