Dorchester bartender wins 2010 Galvin Cup

The Dorchester’s Bruno Do Nascimento has been named as the winner of the fourth annual Galvin Cup cocktail competition.
Held at Westminster Kingsway and hosted by Olly Smith and Nigel Barden, the competition saw competing bartenders mix a classic Rob Roy plus a drink of their choice in a bid to secure the Galvin Cup plus £1k.
Judges Robbie Bargh of the Gorgeous Group, Silvano Giraldin, formerly of La Gavroche and Luca Cordiglieri, vice president of the United Kingdom Bartenders Guild, deemed Do Nascimento the winner for his own ‘Mediterranean’ creation.
The winner of the student’s category of the competition was Rocio Torres of Mexico, who with her ‘Pink Whisper’ cocktail, has now secured a bar position at Galvin at Windows.
Galvin at Windows chef proprietor Chris Galvin and general manager, Fred Sirieix, launched the Galvin Cup in 2006.
