Alan Murchison has beaten the record set for the Mayfair Park and Tower Race, held in aid of Galvin’s Chance yesterday.

The L’Ortolan and Paris House chef completed the 5km race around Hyde Park’s Serpentine Lake and up the 56 flights of stairs of the London Hilton on Park Lane to Galvin at Windows in just 18 minutes 53 seconds, beating last year’s record of 19 minutes.

Joining Murchison in the charity race were chefs Chris Galvin, Andre Garrett and Jerome Ponchelle, each of whom were asked to raise a minimum of £250 for the charity that supports underpriviledged young people to work in the hospitality industry.
