Not an afternoon tea

OXO Tower Brasserie is now serving an alternative to the traditional afternoon tea on its terrace, with a choice of four tasting dessert plates. Pastry chef Penny Wabbit has worked closely with the OXO Tower bar team to create a selection of cocktail and dessert pairings, along the themes of Chocolate Indulgence, Light and Fruity, Tea and Coffee and All Iced Up, the latter of which features a Terrine of Passion Fruit, Lychee and Pomegranate, Mint Chocolate Chip Cones, Lemon Verbena and Raspberry Parfait, Chocolate and Caramel Sundae, paired with Caramelised Passion Sour Cocktail.

Support for Spanish football team`

Spanish Tapas restaurant chain La Tasca has pledged to give away thousands of free meals to diners eating in their restaurants on Sunday evening - provided Spain win the World Cup. Diners need to pre-book their table, place their food order between 7pm and 8.30pm, and be in the restaurant when the final whistle is blown to claim their free meal. Over a third of the chain’s restaurants have installed TVs to show the game against Holland.

Monkey around at the zoo

Giraffe restaurants, which actively supports the Zoological Society of London, is organising a free Family Fun Day at London Zoo, where families can enjoy the sights of the zoo plus an exclusively private area filled with bouncy castles, face painters, magic tricks and a cooked lunch and drinks. Interested diners can submit their details at www.giraffe.net/zsllondonzoo, including email address and dining trends, for a chance to win tickets to the day out held in August. The competition closes on 1 August.

Second honeymoon offer

In a bid to rekindle the spark in a married couple’s relationship, Holiday Inn has launched a second honeymoon rate, offering a 25 per cent discount for stays from 6 July - 31 August 2010. Guests must download a voucher from the Holiday Inn website and present it along with a photo of themselves on their first honeymoon when they check in. The offer will be available across 163 locations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
