Hospitality businesses could obtain a £1k government subsidy to develop the skills of a director or senior manager through the People 1st Train to Gain programme.

Businesses employing five to 249 employees could obtain £1k to develop leadership and management – an area identified as being a key skills shortage area in the hospitality industry.

Up to £500 is fully funded with a further £500 available if matched by the company.

People 1st’s sector compact manager, Chris Jefferies, said: “Employers have told us that they want to boost the management skills within their businesses, but for many small and medium-sized businesses, the recession made it difficult to invest in this area. This offer provides forward-thinking businesses with a great opportunity to get a head-start on their competition, and benefit from training in this crucial skills area at a fraction of the usual cost.”
