YO! Sushi will introduce its first ever alfresco conveyer belt next month, at its new Southbank site in London.

Located at the Grade I-listed Royal Festival Hall on Festival Riverside, Southbank Centre, the venture marks YO! Sushi’s 51st national site and its 22nd in London.

The conveyer belt is designed for use throughout the year, with covering in place to shelter against the elements, and nearby heaters employed to warm outdoor diners.

Considerate design

Robin Rowland, chief executive of YO! Sushi, said: “I’m delighted we are opening a restaurant in such an iconic location as Southbank Centre.

“Incorporating such a quirky and strong brand as YO! Sushi into a listed building was definitely a challenge, but the finished result is both considerate and striking, and gives visitors a distinct choice from the other eating and drinking options available.”

The interior brief demanded ‘subtle integration’ into the property, with designer Phillip Watts Design opting for an ‘organic yet contemporary feel’ created by natural materials.

YO! Sushi will serve its regular all-day menu of Sushi, alongside Japanese inspired hot dishes such as soups, rice, noodles and curries.
