The Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland is once again seeking applications for its emerging talent scholarship scheme

The Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland is once again seeking applications for its emerging talent scholarship scheme.

Over £100k is available to fund 100 scholarship placements during 2011, and is open to applications from those working across all areas of the hospitality and tourism industry at any level.

Placements, as in other years, range from Michelin starred restaurants both in the UK and abroad, and at the Disney Institute in Florida, The Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in New York, or the Ecole Hoteliere in Lausanne, Switzerland.

David Cochrane, chief executive of HIT Scotland, said: “The scholarship scheme is about more than training staff for the here and now. We have refined the scholarship over the years to provide long term benefits for the individuals involved, their employers and the industry.”

The experiences are about broadening horizons and raising the levels of what people think they can achieve. They come back from the scholarship having seen a new way of managing or organizing their business and their career. Long term, it is about establishing a culture of lifelong learning and ambition for the industry.”

Scholarship categories

Applicants have six scholarship categories to choose from: Student, Craft, Young Manager, Middle Management, Senior Management, and Leadership. The Frank Mullen Scholarship is also available to those with an idea for a bespoke scholarship.

Those interested in applying should visit www.hitscotland.org for more details. Applications close on 31 October.
