Best Western adds six new hotels to estate
The hotels, which account for a total of 350 bedrooms, are evenly spread across the UK in London, Blackburn, Southampton, Cornwall and Scotland.
Keith Pope, director of Best Western, said the acquisitions represented the quality of property the group is now looking for, since enhancing its minimum standards three years ago.
“We’re increasingly selective about the hotels that we accept into membership and these latest hotels are excellent examples of the type of quality mid-market properties we’re now attracting,” he said.
Rasied minimum standards
Five of the six hotels feature leisure facilities such as golf courses and health clubs, while all include conference and events spaces for between 150-300 covers.
Pope added: “These latest hotels to join have been attracted by the Best Western proposition – the extensive marketing support of a huge global hotel brand combined with the freedom to run their businesses as they want to; meaning the owners can preserve the personality of the hotel they have created.”
Best Western’s move to raise standards across the group saw the cull of 40 properties “unable to reach those higher standards”.
The new Best Western hotels are:

Best Western Chilworth Manor, Chilworth, Southampton
Best Western Balgeddie House Hotel, Glenrothes, Fife
