Harvest Swap Shop

In celebration of British Food Fortnight (18 September – 3 October), The Restaurant at St. Paul’s Cathedral, operated by Harbour & Jones, is encouraging gardeners to swap a shoebox of their homegrown fruit and vegetables for a traditional Sunday roast on 26 September. Head chef Candice Webber will use the produce for the following week’s menu, highlighted with thanks to the grower.

Young Guns returns

Following the success of last year’s Young Gun’s event at South Lodge Hotel, head chef at The Pass Matt Gillan has invited more of England’s top young chefs to take over the kitchens for the week. Each chef will create their own menu on each day of the week, from 28 September – 2 October. Those participating include Richard Allen of Tassili at the Grand Hotel in Jersey, Ben Goldsmith of The Talbot Inn in Cuckfield, Russell Bateman of Colettes Restaurant at The Grove, Hertfordshire, Mark Poynton of Alimentum in Cambridge and Jon Howe of Lumiere in Cheltenham.

Birthday celebrations

Mayfair restaurant Texture, headed by chef Agnar Sverrison and sommelier Xavier Rousset, is offering a special Champagne cocktail on all bookings in October as part of celebrations of the restaurant’s third anniversary. Having opened in 2007, the restaurant has gone on to receive critical acclaim, and its founders have now continued to open a second site, 28-50 Wine Workshop.

Bargain dinner

My Dining Room in Fulham is enticing cash-conscious diners with a £10 menu available Monday to Thursday. The menu offers diners a different meal each day of the week, plus a glass of wine or beer for a tenner. Options include Mussels, Sausages and Mash, Homemade Burger and Pie of the Day.
