Chef Simon Rogan, owner of L’Enclume, has said he is “chuffed to bits” with his restaurant’s fifth AA rosette.

Cumbrian restaurant L’Enclume was the only restaurant to be granted five rosettes by the culinary guide at the AA Hospitality Awards on Monday night.

Speaking to BigHospitality today, Chef Simon Rogan said: "Both my staff and I are chuffed to bits to receive our fifth Rosette. It's definitely created a real buzz for us.  This accolade is testament to the hard work we've put in over the past year, and our change in style - of highlighting British produce and sourcing ingredients produced around us."

"Unforgettable"

The AA said his restaurant provided an “unforgettable” dining experience, and that Rogan himself “offers groundbreaking cuisine that is inventive and innovative, stretching boundaries by looking at unusual flavour combinations and championing local suppliers and producers to bring the highest quality ingredients to the table."

Meanwhile The Kitchin in Edinburgh was awarded four AA rosettes, as were The Burlington Restaurant at the Devonshire Arms Country House, and Northcote, Langho.

The AA, which compiled the AA restaurant guide, said that restaurants in the UK were maintaining a high standard.

AA Hotel Services area manager Giovanna Grossi said:  “We are very impressed with the quality of this year’s winners, who have demonstrated intense ambition and a passion for excellence, as well as superb technical skills and innovative menus.

“It is encouraging and refreshing to see that there are a number of establishments that continue to raise the standards and encourage excellence in the industry.”
