A historic hotel has come on the market in Norfolk, with a golf course designed by one of the pioneers of the game, and with a price tag of £2.75 million.

The Links country Park Hotel in Cromer is a 49 bedroom hotel and golf course, set in around 35 acres of wooded coastal parkland, designated as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The 9 –hole golf course was designed by early golfer John Henry Taylor, and was opened by him around the turn of the last century.

Tim Gooding of Christie + Co, which is marketing the hotel, said: “The Links Country Park Hotel is one of the oldest established businesses in Norfolk and the historic golf club has a healthy membership.

“The substantial four-storey hotel has been extended and improved over the years to provide well-equipped hospitality and leisure facilities to appeal to both corporate and leisure guests. The hotel operation and golf club complement each other very well — each creating spin-off business for the other.”

Pevril of the Peak

The firm is also marketing Pevril of the Peak Hotel, near Ashbourne in Derbyshire, which, like the Links, has also come on the market from RSM Recovery, administrators of JKRS Ltd.

Pevril of the Peak, which is on the market for £1.75 million, occupies 10 acres and comprises 45 bedrooms with a restaurant, lounge and function room.”

The firm said today that the hotel is likely to appeal to “local buyers who are familiar with the history of the properties and understand the local market.”

“The Links and the Peveril of the Peak are both very well known, long-established businesses,” said Christie + Co director Jeremy Jones. “They are set within areas of outstanding natural beauty and have historically attracted regular function business and bookings from both corporate and leisure clients.”
