Jamie’s Italian, the fast-growing casual dining chain spearheaded by Jamie Oliver, has secured its latest site – at Portsmouth’s Gunwharf Quays waterside retail and leisure development.
The chain, which is led day-to-day by Simon Blagden, has signed a 15-year lease with landlord Land Securities for a 7,500sq ft outlet.
The 15-strong group will join a host of other casual dining brands such as Café Rouge, Las Iguanas, La Tasca, Loch Fyne, Nando’s, Pizza Express, Strada, Slug & Lettuce, Wagamama and Yo! Sushi, plus pub and bar operators such as Fuller’s and Novus Leisure.
The site is one of a number of openings lined up by the company. It has just opened at Birmingham and will shortly unveil new restaurants at Nottingham and Manchester plus its first overseas opening, in Dubai.
In the past year it has opened seven new restaurants including Cambridge, Covent Garden and Glasgow.
Separately, Oliver is set to open a new restaurant in London next month called Barbecoa, a joint venture with US chief Adam Perry Lang.
