Gidleigh Park in Chagford, Devon, has been voted the best restaurant in the UK by diners voting in The Sunday Times and Harden’s restaurant guides.
The new Sunday Times Food List complied “unbiased” reports from readers to create the first Britain’s Top 100 Restaurants.
The two Michelin-starred Gidleigh Park scored the highest marks in the reader survey, receiving accolades for Best Restaurant, Best Place to Stay and Best Wine List.
Executive chef Michael Caines said: “Gidleigh Park has been my pride and joy ever since I was appointed chef in 1994. We've gone on to hold two Michelin stars for almost 12 years and my team has never taken their eye off ball; these awards mean a great deal to us and we feel like Christmas has come early!”
In January this year, Gidleigh Park was again voted best UK restaurant by users of the online restaurant reservation service Toptable.
However, last month it was the Notting Hill restaurant The Ledbury that was named National Restaurant of the Year in Restaurant Magazine’s National Restaurant Awards 2010.
