The Polpo Cicheti Bar, located on the lower ground floor of the Venetian bacaro-inspired Polpo, will serve classic cocktails, including the venue’s signature Venetian Spritz. It will also serve a wine list from Northern Italy, similar to that of the main dining room.
Snacks to be served at the bar include artichokes with prosciutto, chilli marinated baby octopus and mortadella wrap with gorgonzola and walnuts, prepared by head chef Tom Oldroyd.
“Opening a cicheti bar underneath the main dining room allows us to get back to the inspiration behind Polpo: quick snacks and small glasses of wine in an informal setting. You just point and eat!” said co-owner Russell Norman.
Polpo, located on Beak Street in London’s Soho, was earlier this week awarded with a Bib Gourmand in the 2011 Michelin guide to Great Britain and Ireland.
Polpo Cicheti Bar will launch on 8 February and will be open in the evenings only, from Monday to Saturday.
