Budget hotel chain Premier Inn has opened its 600th hotel in the UK this week, located in Stratford-Upon-Avon.

The official opening, conducted by comedian Lenny Henry, comes just after Whitbread announced plans for a further two Premier Inn sites in the UK.

The new hotel, located five minutes’ walk from the historical sites of Shakespeare’s birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s cottage, includes 87 bedrooms as well as a restaurant and bar. Each room caters for up to two adults and two children, with room prices starting at £29 per night.

“This landmark 600th opening means that customers will continue to benefit from great value hotel accommodation nationwide. Our Stratford-upon–Avon hotel is in the heart of the town and our customers will enjoy a short walk to some of the best attractions in the UK,” said Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants Managing Director, Patrick Dempsey.

Premier Inn expansion plans

By 2014, Whitbread plans to add another 15,000 rooms to its Premier Inn brand in the UK.

Earlier this month, the group secured two new hotel sites in Weymouth and Weston-super-Mare, which will add 180 bedrooms to its UK portfolio.

Richard Pearson, acquisition manager for Premier Inn, said: “Premier Inn is in growth mode and we have turned up the burners to ensure we can expand our portfolio in line with the strong customer demand for our hotels and restaurants.”
