While ten of the pubs 12 rooms have been given a minor makeover, two have been given a country hotel style by interior designer Emily Davies, featuring heavy drapes, roll top baths and modern aesthetical touches such as contemporary mirrors.
Brakspear is awaiting planning permission to refurbish six further rooms at The White Hart, which if granted, will see completion by the end of the year.
The 145-strong, south east-based group plans to upgrade rooms across its entire estate as and when its operator decides. Each pub will however receive a makeover from Davies in accordance with the White Hart’s country hotel style.
The White Hart is the third Brakspear pub operated by Ted Docherty and Dion Korving of Tailor Made Steaks, and the second after The Chequers in Marlow to offer the operators’ steak-led menu.
Tom Davies, Brakspear chief executive, said: “We’re delighted with the results of our investment in The White Hart, and pleased to be working once again with Ted and Dion, whose talent for developing successful pubs has been evident in the other Brakspear sites they operate.
“We’re confident the site will be a popular local pub for residents of Nettlebed as well a destination food restaurant and a boutique hotel for overnight stays and weekend breaks.”
Brakspear currently has 28 pubs with rooms.
