Hotel management group BDL management has taken over the contracts for nine Ramada hotels across the UK, following the termination of their lease by Ramada Jarvis.

BDL yesterday signed a management contract for the hotels, which are all owned by the same private investor and will continue to trade under the Ramada brand.

The contract brings BDL’s portfolio of hotels to 46, amounting to almost 5,000 rooms across the UK.

Medium-term contracts

“This is a very significant step change in our business,” said Stuart McCaffer, a director at BDL.

“We currently run 30 properties on medium-term contracts, and this is adding nine hotels to that. We’re delighted to have won the management contract.”

BDL, which runs a further seven hotels on short-term contracts, operates hotels across a range of service levels from some of the world’s leading hotel groups, such as InterContinental Hotels Group, Wyndham Hotels Group and Best Western.

Ramada hotels

The six Ramada hotels now in BDL’s management are Ramada Solihull, Ramada Hemel Hempstead, Ramada Guildford, Ramada Hyde Park, Ramada Ealing, Ramada Farnham, Ramada London Gatwick, Ramada Hatfield and Ramada Sutton Coldfield.

“The hotels are a strong addition to our portfolio and current brand mix and we look forward to bringing our extensive expertise and skills to the ongoing operation of these hotels,” said Louis Woodcock, CEO of BDL.

BDL said it intends to retain all staff at the Ramada hotels.
