Restaurateurs, hoteliers and publicans are being urged to help BigHospitality raise much needed funds for Action Against Hunger by sponsoring one of our writers to run a half-marathon.

On 25 September 2011, multimedia editor Becky Paskin will be competing in the Run to the Beat half-marathon in London in aid of Action Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger.

The charity, which recently rebranded its Fight Hunger Eat Out and Restaurants Against Hunger activities to Love Food Give Food, helps save the lives of malnourished children around the world while providing communities with access to safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger.

Its work has helped save lives in deprived societies across the globe, including the earthquake-struck Haiti and flood-hit Pakistan.

Paskin, who has been training for the race for the past six weeks, said: “The industry has given so much to Action Against Hunger’s essential campaigns over the years, that I felt it was BigHospitality’s turn to do the same.

“I’m by no means athlete, and have never conceived of running this distance before - training has been very hard for me so far.

“Getting up most mornings at 5am for a run in the rain is not an easy feat, but I’m determined to reach my target of raising £500, which BigHospitality’s publisher William Reed Business Media has pledged to match.

“I urge those already supporting Action Against Hunger’s past Fight Hunger Eat Out and Restaurants Against Hunger campaigns to help out, by sponsoring me with whatever you can.”

Those wishing to sponsor Paskin can do so by clicking on the following link and making a simple donation.
