Mini tea

Guoman's Royal Horseguards Hotel in London has introduced a special afternoon tea option for children that will be on offer throughout the summer holidays. The Mini Tea features a selection of (crustless) sandwiches, scones and a selection of pastries and sweet treats created by head pastry chef Joanne Todd that are designed to appeal to young palates such as sparkly fairy cakes, milk chocolate dinosaurs, traffic light fruit kebabs and a rainbow smoothie shot. The £12 tea comes with a free colouring book and a choice of tea, baby chai latte, babyccino or fruit juice. Parents can choose from the hotel's afternoon tea options with deals including £70 for a family of four or £38 for one parent and one child.

Free Jimmy Choos

Pub group ETM is hoping to boost its wedding business by offering every bride-to-be a free pair of Jimmy Choo shoes if they opt to have their reception at its east London pub The White Swan. All bookings made this year will be eligible to receive a voucher worth £350 that can be exchanged for a pair of designer heels. The venue, which can host 52 guests in its dining room and 150 people in all, is available for exclusive use at weekends.

Cheesecake promotion

High-street restaurant chain Prezzo has teamed up with The English Cheesecake Company to create some excitement in restaurants around National Cheesecake Day. The luxury cheesecake maker will send one of its Eton Mess cheesecakes to a Prezzo restaurant every day from Monday 25 July to Saturday 30 July, only announcing on Facebook and Twitter that morning which restaurant will have it. The first cheesecake lover to arrive at the chosen restaurant can claim the cheesecake as their prize and a £30 voucher from Prezzo.

iPhone app

Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh has devised an iPhone app for its guests to be able to access information about the hotel and its surroundings before, during and after their stay. The free app allows guests to book tables at its restaurant Cucina, order room service or a taxi and arrange for luggage to be picked up from their room. Information about local hot spots and places to visit in the city are included which are linked in with Google maps so guests can find their way around easily. General manager Carina Svensen said: “As a regular business traveller myself, I never have my iPhone far from reach, as I need to be able to make decisions at the click of a button and I’m always trying to stay one step ahead. We hope our app makes our guests feel a little more relaxed during their stay."
