Highland Park whisky has launched the third and final edition in its Magnus Series, the Earl Haakon, which has been inspired by the tale of the untimely death of the Earl Magnus.

Following the launch of the Earl Magnus and Saint Magnus, the 18-year old cask strength single malt adopts the character of its namesake who ordered the murder of his cousin the Earl Magnus in the 11th Century.

With an ABV of 54.9 per cent, the Earl Haakon captures the depth of flavour of the regular Highland Park 18-year old, but adds a new dimension achieved through one single vatting.

The result is a medium sweet and long whisky with notes of vanilla, woodsmoke, cedarwood and ginger, finishing with a lingering spiciness.

Just 3,300 bottles of the Earl Haakon have been produced worldwide.
