A student at Llandrillo College in North Wales has been named the Hospitality Student of the Year by the Institute for Travel & Tourism.

Jonathan Davies, who obtained a degree in IT before enrolling at the college, has been awarded a day's stage at the Michelin-starred Devonshire Arms Burlington Restaurant in Yorkshire with head chef Steve Smith.

Upon being presented with his award by BBC presenter Martin Roberts at the House of Commons, Davies said: “I am thrilled to have won this award and delighted to have the opportunity to work with such a well-known and admired chef.”

Davies also wins £500 to spend on kitchen equipment.
