Italian pasta producer Giovanni Rana has announced plans to open its first UK restaurant at Regent's Place in London this autumn after signing a 15-year lease with estate manager British Land.

The 5,000 sqft restaurant, to be called Da Giovanni, will have open kitchens and will be ordered into three distinct areas - informal dining, antipasti and aperitivi and private function space.

It will join fresh food restaurant Pod, which has just opened alongside Regent Place's existing restaurants and cafes EAT, Wasabi, Starbucks and Pret a Manger.

Growing estate

David Lockyer, head of West End asset management at British Land, said: “The arrival of Da Giovanni and Pod will further boost the diverse amenity offer at Regent’s Place and we expect they will be well received by the estate’s growing community of more than 10,000 people.

"With a further 4,000 people expected to join Regent’s Place following the completion of a final phase of development in the North East Quadrant, the outlets will benefit from the extensive on-estate customer base.”

Regent's Place is a mixture of office, residential and leisure space which is expected to be completed in 2013.

Da Giovanni

Fast casual restaurant chain Da Giovanni, started by fresh-filled pasta producer Giovanni Rana, first opened in Italy where it has grown to 24 restaurants. It operates four restaurants in Switzerland and is planning to open another eight across Europe in the next year.

Inspired by Italian kitchens of the 1950s the restaurants serve fresh pasta, pizza and Italian breakfasts within an open plan area.
