On 31 August, just nine months since it first launched, Crown Social will be renamed The Social and run by The Parc hotel’s food and beverage team.
Both Crown and Thistle are said to have ended the partnership on good terms.
Jonathan Davies, director of Crown Hotels and Restaurants, said: “The venture at The Parc Hotel with Thistle was a rewarding experience for us both however we now feel it is the right time to move on and grasp the opportunity to relocate a Crown restaurant at a new premises within the city.”
The group is seeking an independent, stand-alone site within Cardiff to relocate the restaurant to, and is currently considering ‘a number of options’ in the city.
Executive chef Blunos, who achieved two AA rosettes just two months after opening the Crown Social, will remain with the Crown group and is actively reviewing potential locations in which to recreate a new, high-end restaurant.
“Crown Hotels and Restaurants, over the past few months, has established an enviable, critically acclaimed reputation for quality and excellence in Cardiff. We are committed one hundred per cent to maintaining and strengthening our presence in the capital city,” Davies added.
The Social at The Parc hotel will re-open in September serving a Welsh-inspired menu featuring seasonal ingredients.
