Barcelo and Thistle hotels have both appointed new management teams to oversee properties in Cardiff and the East Midlands.

Barcelo Hotels has appointed a new general manager and operations manager for its Angel hotel in Cardiff.

Marco Cogollos joins the hotel as general manager having worked with Barcelo in Spain for the past four years. He brings with him over 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry.

Gareth Bush also joins the hotel fresh from his position as director of events at the Dorchester in London, a position he held for nine years, as operations manager.

Having grown up in Cardiff, Bush first gained his national diploma in hospitality at the Angel hotel 25 years ago.

Des Lawson, Barceló UK HR director, said: “I am pleased to welcome Marco and Gareth to the Barceló UK team. Their experience and passion for the business is second to none and I have great confidence in them delivering outstanding results for our Welsh property.”

East Midlands

Meanwhile, Thistle Hotels has appointed Richard Parker, formerly general manager at the Hilton Nottingham, as general manager of its East Midlands Airport hotel.

With 27 years’ experience, including time spent as general manager at Ramada Jarvis in Burton upon Trent and Loughborough, Quality Hotel Northampton and Comfort Hotel Nottingham, Parker will work to raise the profile of the Thistle East Midlands Airport hotel to make it a star performer within the group.
