The Feathers Inn in Hedley-on-the-Hill, Northumberland, has been named the Great British Pub of the Year 2011 after winning the awards’ Best Gastropub category.

At an award ceremony held last night at Hilton Park Lane, Feathers Inn owners Rhian Craddock and Helen Greer were announced the overall winners of the awards, run by BigHospitality’s sister publication The Publican’s Morning Advertiser, over 14 other category winners.

Presented by comedian and Strictly Come Dancing 2011 competitor Rory Bremner, the awards were handed to 15 national winners in categories such as Best Cask Beer Pub, Best Newcomer and Best Food Pub.

The Feathers Inn was selected as the best overall pub after impressing judges with its ‘excellent food offer, strong community focus, impressive drinks range, exciting range of events and strong business innovation’.

The Publican’s Morning Advertiser Editor, The PMA Team, said: "Helen and Rhian are an inspiration to others. The Feathers Inn is a great all-rounder and a pub business with the wow factor.”
