Restaurateur Russell Norman has given into consumer demand and will now accept reservations for his Soho eaterie Polpetto, just over a year since its launch.

The restaurant, an off-shoot of the original Polpo in Soho, will begin accepting bookings alongside the launch of a new menu from 26 September, following an overwhelming number of requests from diners.

Currently none of Norman’s restaurants accept bookings for dinner, all of them operating on a 'first come first served' basis, although diners may make reservations at Polpetto, da Polpo and Polpo for lunch.

“We now run several very popular central London restaurants and we felt it right to offer dinner bookings at one of them,” Norman said.

“Polpetto is the place we get the most requests for, sometimes fielding 150 enquiries a day for 12 tables. We are doing this in response to overwhelming, badgering and constant demand – we want to keep our regulars happy and I want a quiet life.”

Polpetto will still keep a small number of tables available for walk-ins.
