London Film Museum packages

The London Marriott Hotel County Hall has formed a partnership with its neighbour, the London Film Museum, to create a series of bespoke packages for the meetings and events industry. The hotel and museum are both housed in County Hall on London’s South Bank and joint packages include the dine and wine package, priced at £82 per person, and the dine, wine and party package for £87 per person. Sioned Parry-Rudlin, director of sales & marketing at The London Marriott Hotel County Hall, said: “This is an exciting partnership for the hotel and event bookers looking for something special in one if not the most iconic and spectacular buildings in the Capital. The riverside location, views, space, history, food, service and quality – it all amounts to the perfect venue for meetings and events, no matter what the size.”

Bangers & mash

To celebrate British Sausage week, which runs from 31 October to 6 November, Bumpkin restaurants will be offering traditional bangers and mash from Monday to Friday of that week. The offer will be available at Bumpkin restaurants in Notting Hill, South Kensington and Westfield Stratford between midday and 7pm. The bangers and mash, which will be priced at £10, will be made from 100 per cent British pork and will include pork and apple, pork and herb, and pork and plum – which will all be served with mashed potato, home-made onion gravy and seasonal vegetables. Bumpkin’s sausages are RSPCA Freedom food certified, from farms with the Red Tractor Mark.

Keeping bees

QHotels' Stratford Manor is now providing guests with fresh honey from on-site beehives installed on its 21-acre site. The honey will be served at the breakfast buffet and sold at reception for £5 per jar, with all profits from the sale donated to Asthma UK. “We’re delighted to be supporting Asthma UK, QHotels’ charity of choice,” said Keith Turnbull, general manager of Stratford Manor. “There’s evidence that pure, locally-sourced honey can be of benefit to asthma sufferers and therefore it’s a great fit. We’ve even had to export 24 jars to Asia following a request from a Japanese tour party who stayed here recently.” Guests interested in understanding more about the life of a bee and the importance of bees for the environment can request an ‘up close’ inspection of the Stratford Manor hives and an introductory talk by a local beekeeper.

Boorito 2011

Chipotle Mexican Grill is helping to raise funds for a local charity with a ‘Boorito’ Halloween fundraiser taking place at it’s two London restaurants. Customers visiting Chipotle Baker Street or Chipotle Charing Cross on Monday 31 October from 6pm – 11pm dressed in a costume inspired by the family farm - such as humanely raised animals, family farmers, or locally grown veggies - will be treated to a burrito, order of tacos, salad, or burrito bowl for only £2, and Chipotle will donate proceeds to local charity FoodCycle. The charity combines volunteers, surplus food and a spare kitchen space to create nutritious meals for people at risk of food poverty in the community. “Boorito has become an eagerly-awaited tradition for many of our customers in the United States,” said Steve Ells, founder, chairman and co-shief executive of Chipotle . “We are excited to bring Boorito to London and are proud to support FoodCycle.”
