The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) is inviting all UK pub licensees to enter the 2012 Licensee of the Year competition.

The competition seeks to award those that are making the most of the resources they have. The winner will receive a mass of publicity, high regard from their peers and more success for their business.

Current BII Licensee of the Year, Darran Lingley from the Five Bells in Essex, said “If you run a pub and enter just one competition then it has to be this one, probably one of the best decisions I ever made”.

“We’re expecting this year’s to be the biggest yet.”

The type of venue is not important and the judges’ decision will be based on:

  • Demonstration of high levels of business acumen
  • A clear commitment to staff development
  • Entrant’s passion for the licence trade and their ability to speak knowledgably about industry issues
  • Whether the entrant is deemed to be a fitting ambassador for the industry

To enter, licensees should log on to www.bii.org/loya and complete the first stage entry online. If they are successful in stage one, stage two entry forms will be sent to them.
