Jamie Oliver has secured a second site for his latest restaurant concept, Union Jacks, in Chiswick, London, just a week after opening the chain’s first restaurant in Central St Giles.

The 100-cover restaurant, acquired from Relish Restaurants, will be located at Relish’s former French Kitchen site, on the Chiswick High Road . Oliver has taken out an 18 year lease on the property, with rent currently set at £130,000 per annum, in addition to a one-off premium of £270,000.

Davis Coffer Lyons, which advised French Kitchen on the sale, said that Jamie Bianco Ltd, the company set up by Oliver and his Union Jacks partner Chris Bianco, are currently considering a number of other locations for the brand in the capital.

The first Union Jacks launched last week in the Central St Giles Piazza development in London’s West End.

Oliver and Bianco, an award-winning US pizza chef, first announced the Union Jacks concept this summer, launching the website in September. Targeted at the middle market, in an effort to echo the success of Jamie’s Italian, the restaurant’s menu is focused on British-inspired, wood-fired flatbreads.

Bianco operates Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, Arizona, and is renowned in the US for his wood-fired pizzas and artisan dough-making.

French Kitchen was launched earlier this year on the sites of the two former Villandry Kitchen units in Chiswick and Holborn. However Relish placed the brand and sites on the market last month to consider different opportunities in the sector.
