Young and innovative chefs are being invited to enter the Young British Foodie Awards in a bid to create a ‘food revolution’ and ‘celebrate the unsung foodie heroes in Britain’.

In a nationwide search across Britain, the Young British Foodie Awards invite people to enter one of seven categories. Winners will get to demonstrate their skills on the awards evenings at an exhibition to herald this new movement and will also be rewarded with a cash prize of £1,000.

Anyone can apply...

“The Young British Foodie Awards are about creating a food revolution to celebrate and appreciate the unsung foodie heroes in Britain,” said Lily Jones, Young British Foodie co-founder, artisan baker and founder of Lily Vanilli. “We encourage everyone who likes food to recognise themselves as a Young British Foodie.

“Anyone can apply and the awards welcome food and drink lovers who act on their passion and who believe they encompass the Young British Foodie spirit of originality and passion. The Young British Foodie can be a seriously good DIY charcuterie-maker or baker in their flat, as much as a pro in the kitchen; home-grown talent is welcome.

“As long as your creative project fits into one of the seven categories, you’re in!”

The seven categories are:

- The Rising Star of Mixology, judged by Tony C, Nick Strangeway and James Chase

- The Mobile Mover and Shaker, judged by Petra Barran and Tom Adams

- Best food experience artist, judged Bompas and Parr and Alexa Perrin

- New best alchemist of the oven, judged by Lily Vanilli and Daniel Stevens

- Charcuterie personality, judged by Yianna Papoutsis

- Coffee King or Queen, judged by Gwilym Davies, Tim Styles and Marco Arrigo

- Most irreverent young chef, judged by the brilliant Nuno Mendes, Marina O’Loughlin and Ms Marmite Lover

The Young British Foodie awards are the brainchild of the company’s co-founders Jones, food and drink editor of The Metro, Chloe Scott, and Amy Thorne of Taste PR.

The Awards are open to anyone with proven culinary talent and entry closes in February. Visit www.the-ybfs.com for entry details.
