Small Luxury Hotels of the World experience record 2011 and reservations up
The company has announced that reservations revenue has increased by 23% to nearly $100m. The group currently has a presence in more than 70 countries and in the UK The Levin Hotel and The Goring in London are part of the brand.
The company saw a 71 per cent increase in bookings on their website with online bookings now forming a fifth of their business. The SLH membership club is up by nearly 150 per cent and now has 140,000 members.
Luxury market resilient
Paul Kerr, chief executive of Small Luxury Hotels of the World said: "We are extremely proud to report such positive trading figures for 2011, a year in which headlines around the world seemed to be dominated by the global economic crisis. Over the last 20 years, SLH has been transformed from a club of hotels to a club of customers who are loyal to the brand.
"The luxury hotel market has been fairly resilient in the uncertain times that we have all experienced over the years, and as with other high end brands we are being helped by strengthening emerging markets around the globe as well as established ones. We do however need to be prepared as markets shift further in order to respond to the ever changing patterns of customer behaviour," concluded Kerr.
Dukes London
Last month SLH announced the return of Dukes London to the brand meaning the hotel can now be booked through Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Last week BigHospitality reported that Dukes London was among the UK winners of the World Travel Awards scooping the World's Ultimate Service Award in Hospitality.
