Restaurants, hotels and pubs, including The Gun in London's Docklands and The Arden Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon tell BigHospitality about new marketing ideas and promotions they are running to help attract more customers.

Taxis

ETM Group's Docklands pub The Gun is aiming to bring in more lunchtime trade from city workers by offering a free taxi service to customers who want to have lunch there Monday to Friday. Customers based in Canary Wharf or the Isle of Dogs can arrange for a personal driver to take them and up to seven others to the pub and then back again for free if booking at least 24 hours in advance. The venue specifies that users of the service order two courses from the a la carte menu each.

Electric cars

The Arden Hotel, located opposite the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, is reaching out to the environmentally conscious guest by giving residents and diners with electric cars the chance to charge them up during their stay. The hotel now offers two Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations, donated by Zero:Net to guests with electric cars to top them up or recharge overnight. General manager Jason Adams said: 'We've already had one guest phone us asking about charging their car while staying here. Knowing we had a charging point for their car they have booked a three night stay with us."

Corrigan Burgers

Chef Richard Corrigan will be showcasing the not-so-humble burger next month by participating in food blogger Dan Young's Burger Monday promotion. The chef will prepare a selection of mini-burgers (Rump Steak Oyster Burger, Indian Spiced Lamb Burger and Squid Mackerel Burger) for the event at Andrew's Cafe in London's East End on 14 May. Corrigan will also be bringing back his Burgers, Salad and Beer on the Bar promotion at Corrigan's Mayfair for two weeks from 14 May. Diners can order three gourmet burgers and salads for £25 or up to nine for £55 during the promotion which has been brought back due to popular demand.

Meetings package

Hotel group Radisson Blu has introduced a second dedicated meetings package following the success of its Blu Sky Training Package, designed for those in the training market. The second targeted package is aimed at the pharmaceutical industry and offers a range of services specifically for that sector such as ABPI Code of Conduct compliance, total confidentiality and checks that the event does not clash with another pharmaceutical company specialising in the same disease field as well as total privacy for exhibitions. "Our properties in Central London, and at Stansted and Manchester Airports are each more than suitably equipped to meet the demands of the pharmaceutical industry in particular, offering great privacy and international connections, and with detailed knowledge of the ABPI regulations pertaining to ‘meetings and hospitality’ is something we think will help our properties to stand out from the competition,” said Pharmaceuticals sales manager Katie Hutchins.
