Strawberry dessert competition

Four-star hotel The Cavendish London is holding a competition for customers to create a dessert that uses the strawberries. The winning recipe will feature on the summer menu of the hotel’s AA Rosette restaurant Petrichor and the entrant will win an overnight stay for two with dinner and breakfast. Roy Sommer, F&B Manager at the hotel, said: “We're looking for a dessert recipe that represents out philosophy in Petrichor; to take wonderful British seasonal produce and let them shine. 2012 is a year of celebrations in London and at The Cavendish London we want to celebrate the strawberry, a great British fruit.” Entrants can post their strawberry recipe on the hotel’s Facebook page.

Power Lunch

Boutique hotel Dukes St. James London has developed a special mid-week Power Lunch menu at its new restaurant, Thirty Six by Nigel Mendham. The Power Lunch allows diners to select 'optional extras' to the lunch menu, which includes a selection of useful items, mini spa treatments and services designed to reduce their 'to do' list without compromising their lunch hour. Power Lunch guests can request personal concierge services such as letter and package posting, theatre and transport reservations, dress and suit pressing, shoe shining and flower delivery. Alternatively, diners may wish to purchase useful items from a shopping list which includes stamps, batteries, occasion cards and ladies tights. A two-course lunch at Thirty Six By Nigel Mendham is prices at £21 or £28 for 3 courses.

Photo competition

The Minnis Bar and Restaurant, which overlooks Minnis bay in Birchington, Kent, is to run a photo competition from April throughout the summer. “The competition to capture the Minnis Bay open to everyone, professional and amateur photographers alike,” explains The Minnis chef-patron Jason Freedman, “There are no categories and the Bay offers numerous photographic opportunities – wind surfers, beach babes, rows of beach huts, hunks with six-packs, glamorous grans, gorgeous grandpas, sunsets, family scenes, children eating ice creams and building sandcastles.” Leading entries will be displayed on The Minnis website www.theminnis.co.uk and monthly winners will receive a free meal for two. An over all winner, to be announced in October will receive a meal for four. Entrants can email their photos to wnfbaf.serrqzna@tznvy.pbz.

Nobu Unplugged

Nobu Berkeley ST has launched Nobu Unplugged - a series of monthly performances showcasing emerging music talent. Following the success of Ed Sheeran’s performance at the Nobu Berkeley ST tsunami fundraiser in 2011, the new music program is a 'natural development' for the restaurant and lounge.  Nobu Berkeley ST will integrate a program of live performance which will take place during dining hours. In order to program the events, Nobu has collaborated with top music producer Jake Gosling and music manager/publisher John Woolf.
